The Principality
of Monaco

A must-visit at least once in your life. This tiny 2 km² sovereign state concentrates an unrivalled density of luxury, history and world events. Between the last rocky spur of the Alps and the blue Mediterranean, Monaco is both glamour postcard and living museum.

The Casino
de Monte-Carlo

Built in 1863 by Charles Garnier (architect of the Paris Opera), the Casino de Monte-Carlo is one of the most photographed buildings in the world. Its magnificent Belle Époque architecture dominates the Casino Square, surrounded by impeccable gardens.

The Casino Square, with its luxury hotels (Hôtel de Paris, Café de Paris), Ferraris and Lamborghinis parked outside, and Botero sculptures in the gardens, is a permanent spectacle in itself.

Even without gambling, visiting the historic rooms (entry fee) is worthwhile. Dress code required, ID mandatory, under-18s not admitted.

The Rock &
Royal Palace

The Rock is Monaco's historic quarter perched on a rocky spur overlooking the sea — home to the Grimaldi family since 1297. Medieval cobbled streets, colourful facades, art galleries. The Royal Palace state apartments are open in summer (Jul–Oct).

The Changing of the Guard takes place every day at 11:55am — a free and charming spectacle. The Saint-Nicolas Cathedral is the burial site of the Grimaldi family including Princess Grace Kelly.

The Oceanographic Museum, clinging to the cliff face, is one of the world's most renowned marine institutions (founded by Prince Albert I in 1910).

The Monaco
F1 Grand Prix

The Monaco Grand Prix is the most prestigious and mythical motorsport race in the world. Every year in late May, Formula 1 cars roar through the narrow streets of the Principality — tunnels, hairpins, vertiginous climbs — in a unique circuit.

Even off-season, walking the Monaco streets imagining the cars that thunder through them is an extraordinary experience. Commemorative plaques mark the circuit route.
